Erna Harder Reddekopp DOB- June 9,1929 - August 29,2015
In the spring of 1950 he met Erna Harder. Erna and her friends were fooling around the dyke at Horndean and had a bit of a problem in the water. John happened by and pulled Erna out. He claimed he "saved Erna from the flood of 1950" . After a short courtship they married in October of that year.

Just after Robert was born they moved to Edmonton,Alberta.John worked as an insulator, the occupation that carried him through to his retirement.

In his heart though he was and always would be a farmer. In the late 70's they bought a quarter section near Colinton,Alberta.He loved his little farm,he spent many happy years being what he always wanted to be ,with mom at his side.In 2000 for health reasons they sold the farm and moved into Redwater. During the next ten years, John battled a multitude of health problems, the last being throat cancer.
